Real Name: Anna Marie Darkholme ((formerly D'Ancanto))
Nickname/Mutant Name: Rogue
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Character's Occupation: Student
Human or Mutant?: Mutant
Affiliation: X-Men
Powers/Abilities/Skills:When Rogue touches someone skin on skin, their lifeforce and abilities become absorbed into her. When she touches a mutant, their powers become hers for a short time. Rogue's power is not all easy and care free. The psyches of the people, or part of them, live on inside Rogue's head, and sometimes get so loud to the point where she's almost driven insane.
Rogue’s power leaves her not only with the ultimate “Look but don’t touch” policy, but leaves her with psyches and memories that aren’t her own. She wears gloves constantly to keep her power from hurting anyone else. Her power also leaves her mind mentally fragile, and she is, at times, very easily to manipulate. The psyches themselves are a weakness, as they often scream and shout in her mind, the stronger ones able to even make apparitions of themselves appear before her. She contains the following people:
Magneto//Eric Lensherr- from when he forcefully transferred his powers to her
Pyro// John Allerdyce- stopping his flames from killing anyone else at Bobby's house
Iceman//Bobby Drake- a kiss
Wolverine//Logan Howlett- touching him after she was stabbed by him accidentally, then again when she was thought to have died.
Colossus///Piotr Rasputin- Danger Room session
History:
Anna Marie was born in Meridian, Missisipi to John and Anna D'Ancanto. Meridian's like any other relatively small town in the South, and is most notable for being the birthplace of Hayley Williams, singer of the band Paramore. For most of her life, she did what most typical girl did; ent to school, hung out with friends, but when she was fifteen her grandfather died and Anna Marie became a bit withdrawn. Not to where she never went out, but much less then she used to.
Little did she know that she had actually been adopted from a foster home in Caldecott County, Mississippi, by Mystique. Mystique raised her until the age of five and gave her to the D'Ancantos.
When she started dating Cody Dyllan, in the beginning of senior year in high school, Anna Marie came somewhat out of her shell, attending football games with him, going to the practices, and eventually becoming friends with all of Cody's teammates, who hailed her as their good luck charm.
At seventeen, Anna Marie's power manifested when she kissed her current boyfriend at the time, Cody. She put him a coma for nearly three weeks. She adopted her new persona, Rogue, and walked into a bar, where she witnessed Wolverine get into an altercation with a fellow barmate over his losing to a cage fight.
She convinced him to give her a ride in his car, after he found her stowing away in the back of his truck. They were attacked by one of Magneto's henchmen named Sabretooth, and they were later saved by Storm and Cyclops, and brought to Xavier's school. Rogue became a student there and developed a crush on Bobby, whose power is to turn things into or physically create ice.
After Mystique, in guise of Bobby, tells her that Xavier is mad at her for a previous incident in which she took Wolverine's powers, she flees, and is later found by Wolverine, and they both end up captured by Magneto. Magneto later hooks her up to a machine and transfers his power to her forcefully, and she is rescued by Wolverine again, but not before the permanent white streaks in her hair are caused.
When John Allerdyce, or Pyro, left and joined the Brotherhood, Rogue was furious at how someone could leave them right when they'd be needed.
When the cure was introduced, Rogue was faced a dillema: stay as she was, untouchable, or be normal, but with the choice to be normal she would also be human. She took the cure after discovering then boyfriend Bobby Drake, kissing Kitty Pryde, thinking it would bring him back to her. It didn’t. Two years later, her powers returned to her, and she went back to the X-Men, becoming Rogue again, truly.
During the time she was powerless, she went back to Missisippi and tried to reconnect with her parents. They wanted nothing to do with her, and, in anger, her mother told her she was adopted. Shocked, Rogue turned her back on them after finding out who she'd been adopted by, and changed her last name to Darkholme, wanting to have nothing to do with the D'Ancantos.
She is currently loyal to the X-Men and studies law on the side.
Personality:
Can come off as shy, but can hold her own in a battle. She is also occasionally outgoing and smart alecky. Rogue is at times mentally fragile and easy to manipulate. She is also strong willed, often acomplishing something if she sets her mind to it. And while she is one of the most kind people at the mansion, if you cross her or someone she cares about, she'll turn on you in an instant. While Rogue can be shy, she can also defend herself and/or get her point across. She tries to be kind to everyone, but sometimes, she can't be.
Rogue can often appear cold and sarcastic but this is mainly due to the fact that Rogue likes to keep people at a distance due to her untameable and lethal draining mutation, but underneath she cares deeply for those around her and her apparent rudeness is only used to keep others safe from her mutation
Rogue is also very motherly towards hurt people or people she thinks needs some "southern comforts", and tends to always be there with a kind word or a shoulder to give someone to cry on. But even though she puts on an air of calmness, she doesn't really have that calmness all the time. Rogue, true to her codename, wears a mask and hides what she's really feeling.
Rogue often feels lonely, even when she is surrounded by people. Her lack of human intimacy often makes her feel this way, and she has learned to deal with it, and knows she can't let life pass her by because of her power, so she can, at times, come off as headstrong. (which she is, it's just not all outward.)
While having a quiet lilt, Rogue is, at her core, a smart ass. She posses a dark side, like most people do, and this comes out when she angry. When she is angry, Rogue becomes completely different from her normal personality, and is vengeful and cold, doing anything to get revenge or her hands on the person who her anger is centered at.
She’s, in essence, a very rebellious, cynical, and sarcastic girl with an attitude to back it up, having grown up both physically and emotionally isolated from people, thanks to her powers. But this behavior is often a mask for how insecure she truly is. The memories her powers have inadvertently absorbed into her head also put additional strain on her emotional stability. Thanks to her history around others, the southern belle also has difficulty trusting others. There may be several select people in her life that she allows some wiggle room to, but overall she is hesitant to display such confidant belief in anyone. Not all is so dark and gloomy with the somewhat sullen girl, however. Rogue frequently displays her attitude first and foremost, but secretly she is consumed by the desire to get close to others. For her allies, she is a reliable and loyal fighter, using any ability she can acquire against their common enemy.
And while Rogue has an somewhat outspoken personality, she tends to watch and only voice her opinions if she thinks their important enough to voice. She is very protective of those she cares about, or people who are hurt, unless they are enemies. Rogue is a loner, and true to her name. And while she is a loner, she has a need to be around others, whether they are people she knows or not. Having been hurt by love in the past, and by her powers, Rogue is not one to jump into things.
Rogue herself, does have a few quirks. She can be sort of a slob at times, usually intending that she'll "do it later" rather than now. She also, at the same time, displays some slight OCD like things with other people's things. Like, she'll straighten out someone elses stuff right away, but not hers.
She tends to see things in terms of black and white, and can even, at times, be a bit biased towards a descision or someone elses actions. Rogue is especially skilled at holding a grudge, though she won't betray the emotion. She's a master at hiding her feelings, though she anger, she struggles with. Rogue is not quick to anger, but once she is, you will know it and will not want to be the person or persons her anger is centered on.
All in all, she's a cynical, rebellious, smart ass girl with the attitude to back up her statements. Though she may seem offputting to some, she's generally a pleasant person to be around.
Rogue puts on a brave face, no matter what the situation its rare that she will ever let anyone see her cry. She tries to act tough, like nothing hurts her, but it does, maybe even more so than the average girl. But she would never tell you that.
A lot of Rogues personality stems from her unique ability, and how it causes interaction with other people. After extensive sessions with Charles Xavier, he summarised that her powers are somehow linked with a subconscious guilt complex, somewhere deep inside she believes that she deserves being isolated from society by not being able to touch, because when her powers manifested she accidentally put her first love in a coma. Because of this deep turmoil... she will never be able to overcome her own mental blocks.
If anyone tries to get close to Rogue, her knee jerk reaction is to push them away, for their own safety, so that she cannot harm them either physically or emotionally because of her powers. This makes any romantic advances, quickly and swiftly denied by any means necessary. This isn't to say that she doesn't want to be loved, because its really the only thing that is important to her, but she thinks that no-one should have to settle for a girl they can never touch, and that anyone who wants that is either deluded or crazy.
